Out with the bad, in with the good! This blog isn't going to be posting a sentence or two any more. Instead, it will be composed of beginning goals, what has been accomplished throughout the day, and what happened at the end.
In the beginning, the Field Build and Maintenance team is not working on anything today. Instead, they are grouping up with the other teams due to the game field being complete. In M+E Design and Build, the team has their work cut out: they need to wire their robots for movement, figure out the drive mechanics and work on the Scissor Lift, and figure out what materials to build the ball storage and collector ramps they should use. The Linear Slide drive should be completed, and upon choosing materials the ball storage and collector ramps need to be complete.
In my team, Web Design and Communications, the rest of the team will be working on adding 3 new sponsor logos to the scroll of sponsor logos, and will otherwise just be working on the team website. In programming, the team needs to download the program switcher and then design and build autonomous programs for the non-driver controlled period of the match. They then need to develop and build a Teleop program appropriate for the team robot, and talk with the design engineers to determine the number of motors and servos, leaving the test robot set up for driver training. And finally, the Marketing and Fundraising team will be working on T-shirts, a video on What Does the Robotics Team Mean to You? (WDRTM?) and team mottoes, among other things.
During the meeting: The Marketing and Fundraising team is currently working on the T-shirt design! The logos have been finalized, so they have gone onto Snap Custom Clothing and are currently deciding on the color of the actual T-shirt. Personally, I like the Indigo Blue and the Royal Blue. Inside the workshop, the M+E team members are currently split up and working on separate things. One group is working on the wiring, while another is working on the linear slide. The programming team is currently figuring out how the controller is working, and designing an autonomous program. On the website team, the members (besides me, of course) are working on the website. They are having a bit of an issue with uploading the test robot video, however. In the other room, the Marketing and Fundraising team is currently making progress with the WDRTM video. I'm not sure about the team mottoes yet, however. And finally, there is currently a fascinating game of wiffleball soccer going on. Not exactly productive, but I'm sure the participants are just waiting for a task.
Tasks accomplished as reported in the end meeting:
Team overall: Chose T-shirt color, began emailing parents to invite them to our team
Website Design: Added videos and photos to website
Engineering Notebook: Took pictures, and logged into a place to get Consent Forms. Look at Team Members for more info.
Programmers: Today we worked on getting a NXT Brain set up for Binary that works with the controllers. We are also trying to get the Teleop program to run 4 motors.
Fundraiser and Marketing: Came up with ideas for the mottoes; worked on sponsor logo. We also made rough draft of “why we like Robotics video”.
Mechanical and Electrical design: Our robot can now theoretically drive, worked on the powering system for the scissor lift and got one hole for our frame brace drilled.
